In short
Universum has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no ads. It stores something about you only if you send a message through the feedback form.
Who is responsible
The controller of your data is Piotr Wiśniewski, the author of Universum. You can reach him at [email protected].
The feedback form
- What is saved: your message and its category, the name and email address if you choose to give them, the part of the app you were in, your interface language and your country (worked out by Cloudflare from the connection, not your exact location).
- Your IP address is not saved. A one-way, salted hash of it is kept for at most an hour, only to stop the form being flooded (at most 5 messages in 10 minutes). It is then erased automatically.
- Why: so the author can read your message and, if you left an email address, reply. Sending the form is your choice; the spam protection is a legitimate interest in keeping the form usable.
- Where: in a Cloudflare D1 database located in Europe, and as an email notification to the author's mailbox, which is provided by Google (Gmail). The author may use AI tools, including cloud-based ones, to help read and sort the messages.
- How long: as long as needed to deal with the message. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time.
Settings on your device
Your choices (language, sound, time zone, panel positions and similar) are kept in your browser's local storage. Data fetched from NASA is kept for a short while in the browser's session storage so it is not downloaded twice; it disappears when you close the tab. None of this leaves your device, and clearing site data removes it.
Services your browser contacts
To show live data, your browser fetches it directly from these public services, which see your IP address as with any web request:
eonet.gsfc.nasa.gov,epic.gsfc.nasa.govandimages-api.nasa.govfor NASA natural events, Earth images and image search, and NASA's image servers when you open a picture.
Other NASA data (picture of the day, asteroids, solar activity) goes through this site's own server, so NASA does not see your address for those.
Supporting the project
If you choose to buy the author a coffee, the payment happens entirely on the payment platform you are sent to (such as Ko-fi), under its own terms and privacy policy. Universum never sees your card or account details.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site, under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what you sent, or object to its use, by writing to [email protected] (Cloudflare Email Routing forwards it to the author's mailbox). If you think your data is mishandled, you can complain to a data protection authority; in Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

Formularz uwag

- Adres IP nie jest zapisywany. Najdłużej przez godzinę przechowywany jest tylko jego jednokierunkowy skrót z solą, wyłącznie po to, by nikt nie zasypał formularza (najwyżej 5 wiadomości w 10 minut). Potem jest automatycznie kasowany.
- Po co: żeby autor mógł przeczytać wiadomość i, jeśli podasz e-mail, odpowiedzieć. Wysłanie formularza to Twój wybór, a ochrona przed spamem to prawnie uzasadniony interes w utrzymaniu formularza.
- Gdzie: w bazie Cloudflare D1 w Europie oraz jako powiadomienie e-mail na skrzynkę autora, którą dostarcza Google (Gmail). Autor może korzystać z narzędzi AI, także chmurowych, żeby czytać i porządkować wiadomości.
- Jak długo: tak długo, jak trzeba, by zająć się wiadomością. W każdej chwili możesz poprosić o jej usunięcie.
Ustawienia na Twoim urządzeniu
Twoje wybory (język, dźwięk, strefa czasowa, położenie paneli itp.) są zapisane w pamięci przeglądarki. Dane pobrane z NASA są przez chwilę trzymane w pamięci sesji przeglądarki, żeby nie pobierać ich dwa razy; znikają po zamknięciu karty. Nic z tego nie opuszcza urządzenia, a wyczyszczenie danych witryny wszystko usuwa.
Usługi, z którymi łączy się przeglądarka
Aby pokazać dane na żywo, przeglądarka pobiera je bezpośrednio z publicznych usług, które widzą Twój adres IP jak przy każdym zapytaniu w sieci: eonet.gsfc.nasa.gov, epic.gsfc.nasa.gov i images-api.nasa.gov (zjawiska naturalne, zdjęcia Ziemi i wyszukiwarka zdjęć NASA, a także serwery zdjęć NASA, gdy otworzysz obraz). Pozostałe dane NASA (zdjęcie dnia, planetoidy, aktywność Słońca) idą przez serwer tej strony, więc NASA nie widzi przy nich Twojego adresu.
Wsparcie projektu
Jeśli zechcesz postawić autorowi kawę, płatność odbywa się w całości na platformie, na którą zostaniesz przekierowany (np. Ko-fi), na jej zasadach i zgodnie z jej polityką prywatności. Universum nigdy nie widzi danych Twojej karty ani konta.
